Seasons Changing

Winter is coming and it's time to get the boat, jet ski, and motorcycle winterized and put away for the year. The summer just went by too fast this year. Maybe it's because I can't get enough of summer and all there is to do. I know its a personal preference and everyone has their opinion on what season they like best. I'd like to find some cheap ski's and hit up Mt. La Crosse this year. I went there last year a few times and it's expensive when you have to rent skis and boots and still pay the lift ticket. Anyone know of a good place to ice skate? I wouldn't mind trying out some ice skating this year.

Video games may be taking over some peoples lives.

Video games have taken over many people’s lives and they don’t even know it. The way that technology has moved has made games more challenging so the addiction is far worse than before leaving the gamer challenged and determined to beat a game or certain objective. Most video game consoles are designed to play DVD movies, surf the internet, stream Net Flix movies, play against other gamers across a network, and much more. The gaming industry has put technology at its best to ensure the highest level of satisfaction in entertainment without even having to own anything other than the game console and a television. I know a few people that play video games much more than they should and it is their all time favorite activity. It seems like a challenge to get them out of the house and actually go do something as if they have to be ripped from their couch. I’ll have to agree that playing video games can be fun once in a while but some people take it to the extreme. When it’s a nice day outside and most people are out enjoying the weather being active, some people are sitting glued to their television. Video gaming has helped people ignore everything around them while teaching them that there is no need to be productive and that it’s okay to just sit around all day not getting things done. People need to wake up and realize that there is so much more to explore in life than staring at a TV playing games.

Time

This semester has left me with very little free time to do anything between working full time and attending school. During the week it feels like that's all I have time to do. When the weekend comes I usually do something productive like work on the house or sometimes relax. This last Saturday my girlfriend and I ended up roofing the backside of our house where the porch is. The rolled roofing that was on there was pretty wore and needed to be replaced soon. We worked on it from 11 am. until 9 at night. Glad we got it done but where did my Saturday go? Next weekend we might lay new shingles on the garage. I guess in the end we'll be happy we got it all done now rather than worry about it later.

Rain Rain Go Away!

It rained again all yesterday and through the night as if the clouds had an infinite supply of water. Flash flood warnings are out and people fear that their homes will be flooded. The roads became flooded like small rivers, making dead ends and means to find another way to get to work like fighting your way through a maze. I’ve become so sickened by all this rain and the mosquitoes that it has brought. I’m even slapping mosquitoes off my arms at work inside a building as if I were outside camping. More bad news to come as the weather man predicts more rain tonight.

Stick Close To Your Family

I’ll always remember the time that both of my grandfathers were in the hospital at the same time. One of them had a stroke and was told he would never walk again while my other grandfather was having open heart surgery. It’s always hard to deal with the fact that someone close to you is on the edge of dying but to have two family members at the same time makes it all the worse. I remember going each day I could and visiting them both on separate floors. I remember thinking to myself that if one of them didn’t make it how I would have felt by not seeing them as much as I could have when they were alive and healthy.  A matter of days went by and both had recovered well and were able to leave the hospital. My grandpa that had the stroke was actually able to walk within weeks and has been walking fine ever since.  Both of them are in good health now and I see them as often as I can because after their life threatening experience it has taught me to stick close to them.  Any day they could leave this world and I want to be sure I spent all the time I could with them while I had the chance, and not regret the times I could have seen them and didn’t.

Camping in Wyalusing State Campground

This weekend my girlfriend and I went camping at Wyalusing State campground and had a good time.  We arrived on Saturday and set up our tent as well as got everything ready. We found some dead logs and chopped them down to make a big warm fire. We cooked burgers and hot dogs over the fire and roasted marshmallows later in the night.We brought our two dogs on their first camping trip and we all went hiking Sunday morning exploring the deep wilderness. After hiking we came back to the camp site to cook some food and later went fishing. We were pretty happy with the stay at the campground as the park was clean, very wooded, good hiking trails, excellent views from the bluff, and since its a state park it was only $12 a night.
